Brenta Dolomites traverse, Trentino Alto Adige, Italy

'Tough Mountain' has been operating in the Brenta Dolomites for the past 3 years. The Dolomites offers stunning scenery, completely at odds with the main Alps - this entire area used to be a coral sea and you can still find fosils 2000m above existing sea level.

This fabulous South to North traverse of the Brenta Massif offers amazing oppotunities for photo shoots with the sun behind you all the way. We cross Monte Stoppani,  just one area that is home to the Marmots (where I took the photo on the right). On this high plateau above Madonna Di Campiglio their whistling can be heard throughout the day as they call to each other whilst foraging amongst the lush alpine meadow.

Above this pasture the grass quickly fades to bear rock. Up here are the mountain retreats used by us as we travel across this amazing region.

On the final days trek there is also the possibility to see signs of Brown Bear, re introduced from Slovenia and seen in the area towards Lago Di Tovel.
